“Dave's paintings are a powerful representation of the life he has carved out for himself. Whether it is the gardens at Lindenwood, the Egg Harbor River, or the Landscapes of Cape May, Dave builds these colorful worlds with the brush stroke of a tenacious young upstart. He attacks his canvases with the power and freedom of raw mastery. With layer upon layer, he grinds away at the surface of convention with vivacity, in a style and a voice all his own. This is what sets Dave apart - his portrayal of soft and wonderful subject matter, hewn in he violence and speed of an oil paint cyclone. Monet meets Turner. Beauty and Chaos. Life and Passion."  Victor Grasso (River Run to the Sea, Exit Zero Publishing 2008)
Dave Clemans is an artist who is in harmony with his enviornment, clearly represented by his newest paintings of his beloved South Jersey, a collection of paintings he calls “The Seagrove Series”

Artist Statement
Lake Lily Revisited ( The Sea Grove Series )
The history of Sea Grove (Cape May Point) has occupied my attention for thirty years. My house, built by Jonathan Pyne in 1694, is perhaps the oldest house in Cape May County. All the land that is now Cape May Point was originally owned by Pyne and subsequent owners until the creation of Sea Grove in 1875 when it was gifted to the Sea Grove Association by Alexander Whilldin.
It occurred to me that this rich history could be enhanced by recreating Sea Grove through a series of paintings based on photographs and engravings from that time (1875-1895). Though more fanciful perhaps, I feel that these works well represent Sea Grove from an historical perspective.
