SOMA NewArt Gallery presents "The St. Barnabas Art Group" an exhibit of paintings by twelve regional artists.

This is the group's first time exhibiting at SOMA NewArt Gallery.  The St. Barnabas Painters are a dedicated group of regional artists initially formed by the late Father William Shelton of the St. Barnabas Church in Villas, NJ. Father Shelton originated his first painting class at the Vicarage in 1961, and over his lifetime instructed hundreds of inspiring artists. Lead by Father Shelton, members of the art group traveled worldwide on cultural painting expeditions. Father Shelton's dedication to the arts and his professional classes challenged many students to learn, discover and perfect their individual art talents. Today the group continues to meet weekly at their Cold Spring Studio.

This exhibition at SOMA will feature selected paintings by artists; Peg Dittmar, Fury Feraco, Martha Fidler, Dale Norma Hearon, Carol Hiemenz, Rosalie Hettenbach, Janet McShain, Fran Moore, Victoria Papale, Karen Rose, Pam Verity, and Valerie Waywell. Each artist will be showing paintings in their unique styles, varying in subject from seascapes to landscapes, florals, still life, majestic animals, elegant birds and figurative work.  Members have exhibited widely and have received many prizes.
