Terri Amig’s paintings bring the intensity of Renaissance portraiture to her animal paintings, with the intention of rekindling of recognition of a kindred spirit or a reflection of ourselves. Stately heroic portraits of animals stare warmly back at the viewer. These creatures are not images in a distant scene but engage directly, emotionally, and psychologically with the viewer. There is something reassuring about these paintings; a view into a world wholly different and wild, yet at the same time familiar and safe.
